I will be submitting my own articles as well as articles that I've gotten permission to include that I run across in my continued search for IH material. I own a '71 800B, so if you run across more data for 800's then Scout II's or Pickups thats why. I will add more data as time permits and as it comes along.

As the youngest of IH lightline trucks are around 26 years old,expect problems with the
gauges. This is mostly seen as bad Constant Voltage Regulators. A bad CVR can cause the gauge to read low and is most easly seen on the fuel gauge as 3/4 when the fuel is spilling out of the fill tube. At this time the other gauges are also giving a 3/4 reading , as the temp is low and so is the oil.It is because the CVR is tired and worn out. If it burns out it will stop blinking and burn up the gauges -first to go will be the fuel gauge after you fill the tank.If for some reason the points wear untill they don't close, all the gauges will STOP doing anything. The time to fix this is when they read low. BUT CVR's are getting hard to come by and all cvr type cans are not the same. The # of blinks matters and the style of gauge matters -even if the senders are the same ,as in the 80/800 scout.
In the 800 some gauges are 12 ohms and others are 15 ohms and the 80 is 21 ohms.
since the gauges are HOT WIRE GAUGES its the temp of a bimatalic spring that matters.To get the right temp on the gauge the old CVR's used a screw to adjust the points and so the speed of the flash,hence the heat created from 12 volt pulses!
As IH CVR's are going away I have figured out how to use NEW computer chips
to give the heat needed ,to read full when full, ect...
I am currently doing the gauges for a 1957 pickup and I can do scout 80 and 800 's
as well as scout II type. I also have these on the shelf. I will be taking a large box to the nationals to sell and also to take orders on repairs of gauges.
If anyone reading on this site ,needs gauges or needs their own repaired , I will make myself available to help.
